JOIN US AT OUR THIRD ANNUAL FUNDRAISER
SEPTEMBER 28 6 PM ORR'S ISLAND SCHOOLHOUSE
Puppy
Love has placed over 500 dogs in the past three years. Puppy Love’s Louisiana associates continue to
increase the number of dogs who are spayed and neutered. The root of overpopulation throughout the
country is firmly set in unwanted litters.
Louisiana shelters provide education about the plight of puppies
surrendered; even they face euthanasia for the lack of homes. Death rates for dogs in Louisiana alone are
over 100,000 annually. Nationally, 3-4
million dogs and cats are euthanized each year.
Operational costs far exceed the adoption
donation of $375. The transportation cost for each dog is $175, and each
rescue dog receives full veterinary care including wellness exams,
vaccinations, heartworm testing and spay/neutering. Heartworm positive
dogs are treated following the American Heartworm
Society's recommended 61 day regimen. Even healthy dogs are in
the foster family network for at least 4 weeks before they are adopted.
It is not a surprise that Puppy Love must rely on fundraising activities
to sustain its life saving work.
Among the
fundraising activities is an annual event to present the organizations annual
report to the public. The event includes
a silent auction, that is also available online, a buffet dinner and live
music. Attendance is expected to be
between 125 and 150 people, with over one thousand participating online.
