Puppy Love has placed over 500 dogs in the past three years.  Puppy Love’s Louisiana associates continue to increase the number of dogs who are spayed and neutered.  The root of overpopulation throughout the country is firmly set in unwanted litters.  Louisiana shelters provide education about the plight of puppies surrendered; even they face euthanasia for the lack of homes.  Death rates for dogs in Louisiana alone are over 100,000 annually.  Nationally, 3-4 million dogs and cats are euthanized each year.

Operational costs far exceed the adoption donation of $375.  The transportation cost for each dog is $175, and each rescue dog receives full veterinary care including wellness exams, vaccinations, heartworm testing and spay/neutering.  Heartworm positive dogs are treated following the American Heartworm Society's recommended 61 day regimen.  Even healthy dogs are in the foster family network for at least 4 weeks before they are adopted.  It is not a surprise that Puppy Love must rely on fundraising activities to sustain its life saving work.

Among the fundraising activities is an annual event to present the organizations annual report to the public.  The event includes a silent auction, that is also available online, a buffet dinner and live music.   Attendance is expected to be between 125 and 150 people, with over one thousand participating online.

TRANSPORT UPDATE

ALL IS WELL ON TRANSPORT! The pups will likely be spending the night in Tennessee.

MEETING THE TRANSPORT TOMORROW MORNING

All is well with the dogs.  We will be meeting the transport in the morning and have a nice Easter helping them settle in.

DOGS WILL BE BOARDING TRANSPORT TONIGHT

Rocky is on her way to intercept the transport with this months adoptions.  They will be boarding within the next couple of hours.  The plan is to spend the night in Mississippi.

TONIGHT IN CONNECTICUT

All the dogs continue to do well.  The transport is making good time and plans to spend the night in Connecticut.   That will bring the dogs to Maine tomorrow as hoped!

ALL IS WELL ON TRANSPORT

All the dogs are doing very well. They were just outside of South Carolina and will spend the night there or maybe into North Carolina.

Thank you to all the foster families and the transport crew.  The pups will be spending the night in Mississippi and then continuing their journey north.  Safe travels.

HOPING FOR NJ TONIGHT

All the dogs are doing great.  I spoke to the transport team and they were in South Carolina headed for New Jersey.

This months adoptions and fosters have boarded the transport and are headed north.  They will spend the night in Mississippi and then continue their journey to forever homes.
