Hello Adopters, Friends and Supporters of Puppy Love,
Our fourth anniversary is fast upon us. Beyond our wildest dreams, we are happy to report that nearly 700 dogs, (686 to be exact) have traveled the 2,000 miles from Louisiana to forever homes in Maine and surrounding areas. The adoption network spreads from the northern reaches of New Jersey to southern areas of Canada. We have alumni in DC, Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia. Thank you all for making this possible.
The annual fundraiser is our primary mechanism to raise funds, celebrate our success and have some fun. A buffet dinner will feature delicious hot foods, including authentic Cajun gumbo that Rocky will be cooking. Ms. Rita, the director of the Humane Society of Western Louisiana, will be attending this year. The Holy Mackerels are returning from Boothbay, and will play an eclectic blend of acoustic music.
We valued the feedback from last year, and promise more seating space, more auction space and more silent auction items – we already have over 140 incredible donations. They include passes to Disney World and lodging in Orlando, tickets to New England attractions, a variety of gift certificates and, of course, items for your fur family.
This year's silent auction will post some items to our Facebook event page https://www.facebook.com/events/522835994483478/?context=create&source=49. These will feature items that can be accessed online or can be easily mailed. To bid on an item posted on the event page, you can comment to the post or email us at info@puppyloveme.org. We will update the highest bid each day. Facebook bidding will close on Wednesday, September 24, at midnight. This will allow us time to prepare the bid sheets for the live auction on September 27th. There is also a Buy It Now option. The Buy It Now price for items is the face value of the item.
Larger items, such as gift baskets and merchandise, will only be available at the live event. Auction items will be added as they come in so be sure to check the site for new items. Donations to the auction are also welcome.
Tickets can also be purchased by emailing us at info@puppyloveme.org. Tax deductible donations can be made on our website through Paypal at http://www.puppyloveme.org/donate.html
The Puppy Love cookbook, Sit…Stay… Eat, is still available and can be ordered by email or at the event. The book is a $20 donation with a $5 shipping fee. There are also Puppy Love tee shirts, sweatshirts and hats available by email or at the event.
We hope to see some of you at this tail wagging, paw stomping event. Updates on your puppy love fur baby are always welcome.

FOURTH ANNUAL FUNDRAISER
SEPTEMBER 27TH 2014
ORR'S ISLAND SCHOOLHOUSE 1600 HARPSWELL ISLANDS ROAD ORR'S ISLAND, ME
Our fourth annual fundraiser is sure to be better than ever. More seating room, a better organized silent auction and repeats of highly acclaimed music by the Holy Mackerels as well as a grand buffet. The evening is sure to please and allow our supporters to go home with some awesome silent auction booty while supporting Puppy Love's rescue effort to save dogs from high kill shelters.
A talented crew of volunteers has been meeting monthly to refine the experience of the event. We have a new seating plan with lots of elbow room. A bigger tent will provide better access to the auction items. The auction will be done the good old fashion way with paper bidding. An event Facebook page will allow our supporters to cast distant bids prior to the event with a Buy It Now feature. Stay tuned for the posting of items and an announcement that the event page is up and running.
Give a special ear rub to your furry family from your friends at Puppy Love.

JOIN US AT OUR THIRD ANNUAL FUNDRAISER
SEPTEMBER 28 6 PM ORR'S ISLAND SCHOOLHOUSE
Puppy
Love has placed over 500 dogs in the past three years. Puppy Love’s Louisiana associates continue to
increase the number of dogs who are spayed and neutered. The root of overpopulation throughout the
country is firmly set in unwanted litters.
Louisiana shelters provide education about the plight of puppies
surrendered; even they face euthanasia for the lack of homes. Death rates for dogs in Louisiana alone are
over 100,000 annually. Nationally, 3-4
million dogs and cats are euthanized each year.
Operational costs far exceed the adoption
donation of $375. The transportation cost for each dog is $175, and each
rescue dog receives full veterinary care including wellness exams,
vaccinations, heartworm testing and spay/neutering. Heartworm positive
dogs are treated following the American Heartworm
Society's recommended 61 day regimen. Even healthy dogs are in
the foster family network for at least 4 weeks before they are adopted.
It is not a surprise that Puppy Love must rely on fundraising activities
to sustain its life saving work.
Among the
fundraising activities is an annual event to present the organizations annual
report to the public. The event includes
a silent auction, that is also available online, a buffet dinner and live
music. Attendance is expected to be
between 125 and 150 people, with over one thousand participating online.
